The first gold of our team at the European Championship 2023
Ukrainian biathlete Anastasia Merkushina commented on her sprint win at the European Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
“How do I rate my performance? 10 out of 10. In fact, it was quite tiring, the track here is generally not easy. I am very happy that I won here, because this is the track for the World Cup in 2025. I wanted to try it, I’m very glad it was worth it. A lot of emotions, I’m very happy.”
“Winning means a lot, I feel like I did something for my country. I was the best in this race. I still have emotions that now the anthem of my country will be played and the flag will be raised over the stadium. I hope that I brought some joy and positive emotions for Ukraine – and this is important for me.”
Recall that Merkushina became the winner in the sprint race at the European Championship in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. The 28-year-old Ukrainian was able to shoot cleanly on both shooting ranges, and thanks to the increase in speed on each of the following laps, she showed the best time in the race.
