Grotian won the race
Ukrainian biathlete Anastasia Merkushina became seventh in pursuit race on European championship in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
The Ukrainian made two mistakes on four firing lines. Her backlog from the first place was almost a minute – 59.9 seconds.
The winner of the race was the German Selina Grotian. Sweden’s Tilda Johansson finished second, while Gilonne Guigonnat of France took bronze.
In total, two Ukrainians started in the pursuit. In addition to Merkushina, Lyubov Kipyachenkova entered the race, but she was removed from the race as a “circular”. Three more biathletes – Yulia Jima, Elena Bilosyuk and Anna Krivonos – did not start.
Three more races will take place in Lenzerheide: the men’s pursuit (January 28) and the mixed relay and single mixed relay (January 29). Blue-and-yellows in Switzerland have already got three medals. Yulia Dzhima and Anton Dudchenko brought silver medals to their team in individual races, while Anastasia Merkushina won gold in the sprint.
