“The plot of 10 km has only increased.” Sivkov – on the drama in the Czech Republic and Yunin’s title as a speed skater

The intrigue of the men’s classic all-around at the Russian Championship only increased on the final distance and the competition turned out to be tense, said Viktor Sivkov, coach of the Russian speed skating team’s stayer group.

At the Russian All-Around Championships, Yegor Yurin won the title by 0.007 points. The second was Vladimir Semirunniy, who set an ice rink record at a distance of 10 km.

– Intense struggle, drama for 10 km. How did you take it all?

– Indeed, it was so. The plot began with the fact that Daniil Aldoshkin and Sasha Podolsky withdrew from the competition due to the weather. We started the Russian championship with a reduced team and after the first day the image was normal, good. Four athletes in our group were in the lead in the sum of two distances with minimal margins. But on reel this morning, Ruslan Zakharov was badly shot in the back. Having a slight advantage over the sum of two distances, he lost his head in the truck, so the intrigue only increased. He showed fighting qualities, tried to win in the all-around, but a back problem played a role, Sivkov told .

– Are you happy with the form the guys have at the end of the season?

– Yes. Our main departure is always in February and the model is always built exactly for that. It was hoped that it would be possible to show positive dynamics, but the disease intervened. One athlete collapsed in a week, the second in three days. In addition, three days before departure, we lost Elizaveta Golubeva due to illness. Yegor also had a fever a day before the start, but then everything went away. Apparently some kind of virus is running.

– What’s next on the plans?

– Now we are preparing for the final of the Russian Cup, and for young people – the Spartakiad in Chelyabinsk.
