German bobsledder Lochner became world champion for the fifth time, after winning the two-man classification for the first time.

German bobsledders Johannes Lochner and Georg Fleischhaus won gold medals in the two-man competition at the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

They showed a result of 4 minutes 21.84 seconds on the sum of four attempts. Second place went to their compatriots Francesco Friedrich and Alexander Schüller (+0.49 seconds), third place went to the Swiss Michael Vogt and Sandro Michel (+0.50).

Lochner won world championship gold for the fifth time in his career. He has won team competitions three times and once in four, the two-man championship was the 32-year-old German’s debut.

The world championship will end on February 5. Russian and Belarusian athletes have been suspended from participating in tournaments under the auspices of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation due to the situation in Ukraine.
