Kravchenko: I didn’t have enough success in shooting in relay races, but I’m satisfied with the European Championship

The national team of Ukraine begins preparations for the World Cup

Senior Women’s Coach national team of Ukraine biathlon Alexander Kravchenko commented on the performance of biathletes at European Championship 2023.

“In principle, I think that we have succeeded in the European Championship. A little bit lacked, perhaps, success in relay shooting, especially in single-mixed, because they were competitive. In general, I am pleased with the condition of the girls.

“A variant with Elena Bilosyuk and Anya Krivonos was considered for a single-mix, but I trusted Elena’s experience. Didn’t work out a bit.”

“The last lap of Yuliya Dzhima was difficult not psychologically, but physically, because the difficult track in Lenzerheide. Mountains – you have to get used to it.”

“Will the form of the team improve after moving to Oberhof? Hope so. Now we will move to a lower altitude before the World Championships, we will prepare. We move to Ramsau in Austria at an altitude of about 800 meters. And then, somewhere on February 4, we will go to Oberhof.”

On the final day of the competition, the Ukrainian team took fifth place in the mixed relay. Our team was represented by Anastasia Merkushina, Yulia Dzhima, Artem Prima and Anton Dudchenko. Also, the Ukrainian team consisting of Elena Bilosyuk and Bohdan Tsymbal took seventh place in the single mixed relay.

Recall that at the European Championship 2023 Ukrainians won three medals. Anastasia Merkushina won gold in the sprint, while Yulia Dzhima and Anton Dudchenko brought silver medals to their team in individual races.
