Nikolai Gulyaev, president of the Russian Skating Union, told that on the opening day of the Russian championship in Irkutsk he was happy with the full stands.
The Russian championship in two types of all-around – sprint and classic – ended on Sunday in Irkutsk. Evgenia Lalenkova and Egor Yunin became the title holders in the classic all-around, Angelina Golikova and Viktor Mushtakov in the sprint.
– Special thanks to Irkutsk for organizing this tournament. Yesterday, the governor of the Irkutsk region, Igor Kobzev, the head of the Legislative Assembly of the region, Alexander Vedernikov, and the mayor Ruslan Bolotov were present. He always gives status to these competitions. There were stalls full when it opened, which I hadn’t seen in a long time, which was surprisingly nice. We try to create a healthy competition between the rinks and the host cities in order to raise the level of competitions like the national championship to a sufficiently high level. I think we succeeded both in Kemerovo and here. I would give everyone five plus. And, most importantly, the athletes themselves do not disappoint, they keep the plot to the end,” Gulyaev told .
