Skier Korostelev said he does not want to switch to biathlon

Winner and laureate of the stages of the Russian Cup in cross-country skiing Savely Korostelev told Metaratings.ru that he does not plan to switch to biathlon.

— Your video with Natalia Nepryaeva shooting a biathlon rifle moved biathlon and cross-country skiing fans! And immediately a question arose about interest in biathlon: do you have it?

– Everything happened spontaneously (laughs). The guys (Natalya Nepryaeva and Alexander Terentyev – approximately) had an unloading day, and I saw, passing on skis, that they decided to try shooting from an air rifle. I drove, I joked about the feeling with Natasha’s transition to biathlon, then I went to do my training …

– Isn’t it disappointing the constant comparison of skiers with biathletes in terms of TV shows, prize money and other “goodies”?

I take it as neutrally as possible. Cross-country skiing is my sport and I don’t want to switch to biathlon.

Earlier, Natalia Shevchenko (née Mekryukova) switched from skiing to biathlon. At the fourth stage of the PARI Biathlon Commonwealth Cup, the ex-skier took second place in the sprint race, losing only to Larisa Kuklina.

As part of the 100th anniversary of Moscow sport this season, the Luzhniki Sports Complex will host unique cross-country skiing and biathlon competitions called Race of the Stars. The competition will bring together world and European champions, Olympic medalists: Anton Shipulin, Anna Bogaliy, Alexander Legkov, Alexander Panzhinsky, Alexei Petukhov, Ivan Cherezov, Natalia Matveeva and others.

On February 4, at 1:00 p.m. Moscow time, the ski race will begin, on February 5, at 1:00 p.m., biathletes will start their performance. Watch live broadcasts on the federal channel and thematic channels of the holding, as well as on the sites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
