Olympic champion Alimbekova-Smolskaya says she is not ready to play under a neutral flag now

Belarusian biathlete Dinara Alimbekova-Smolskaya stated that he is currently not interested in competing internationally under a neutral flag.

Russian and Belarusian biathletes have been suspended from competitions under the auspices of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) due to the situation in Ukraine. Instead of the World Cup, Russians and Belarusians face off at the BET Commonwealth Cup.

– I said earlier, when our Olympic committees met and asked me such a question that, of course, it turns out that we are not on an equal footing. And it’s probably not the principles of sport that should be. I can agree that we athletes spend a lot of time competing internationally, it’s our life. I am for the fact that we act as equals, as a complete team and under our own flag.

The neutral flag is tricky. Probably, now I would not agree to travel under a neutral flag,” Alimbekova-Smolskaya said on the SportKadr program on the Belarus 5 channel.

Alimbekova-Smolskaya is 27 years old and an Olympic relay champion. The athlete stood on the World Cup podium six times.

The next round of the PARI Commonwealth Cup will take place in Tyumen from March 9-12. Watch live broadcasts on the federal channel and thematic channels of the holding, as well as on the sites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
