The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation has issued a statement on the upcoming conference on reports and elections of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU), during which the organization will choose its president.
Currently, the SBR is headed by Viktor Maigurov, and Anatoly Nuzhdov is also a candidate for the post.
– In connection with comments in the media about the upcoming reporting and election conference of the Russian Biathlon Union, scheduled for June 23, we inform you. The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation is a federal executive body responsible for developing and implementing state policy in the field of physical culture and sports. In its activities, the Ministry of Sports of Russia is guided by the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal constitutional laws, federal laws, acts of the President and Government of the Russian Federation, international treaties of the Russian Federation Russia, as well as the regulations on the Ministry.
According to Article 17 of the Federal Law No. 82-FZ “On Public Associations”, the interference of public authorities in the activities of public associations is not permitted. The Ministry of Sports cannot interfere in the activities of an all-Russian public organization, let alone exert any influence on the election of the head of the organization.
Statements about the pressure exerted by the Russian Ministry of Sports do not correspond to reality. The choice of the head of the Russian Biathlon Union is carried out in accordance with the Charter of the organization. Russia’s sports ministry will interact with the RBU leadership, which will be elected following the results of the reporting and election conference, the ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, the head of the Biathlon Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan (FBRT) Ildar Nugmanov accused the current President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Viktor Maigurov of pressuring regional organizations on the eve of elections to the RBU.
