The decision depends on the team coach Alexander Kravchenko
Ukrainian biathlete Daria Blashko returned to training.
The athlete missed the European Championship due to illness. According to the head coach of the men’s team Yuray SanitraDaria, who works together with the men’s team, is in optimal condition.
“Daria is motivated and in good condition. I think that we will need one or two days to determine correctly her physical condition. But what I saw in training is that I am sure she will be ready for the World Cup so that she can help the team right there.
“I haven’t talked to Alexander Kravchenko yet – this is a question for him, I somehow don’t understand the selection system for the women’s team for the World Cup. Therefore, the question of whether he will include it is up to him. We are preparing it for the World Cup. If the coach wants to include it in the application, it will be ready.”
Women’s team coach Alexander Kravchenko I am ready to consider a possible application of Blaschko to the Ukrainian national team for the world championship.
“I know that Daria Blashko went to Yuray Sanitra in Ruhpolding. But he hasn’t told me anything yet, and I haven’t spoken to him. Now all decisions regarding Dasha are only for Yurai. If she proves her readiness and is able to [соревноваться]then, perhaps, I will consider her candidacy for the World Cup.
“We will be moving from Ramsau on Saturday 4 February. I think by that time we will finally understand the composition for the world championship. Moreover, on Thursday, February 2, the IBU Cup begins, Alexandra Merkushina will perform there. I want to see her result and then I will talk with Yuri Sanitra.”
The women’s team included Elena Bilosyuk, Yulia Jima, Anastasia Merkushina, Anna Krivonos, Lyubov Kipyachenkova. Alexandra Merkushina and Daria Blashko claim the last place in the application.
The 2023 World Championship will be held in Oberhof, Germany from 8 to 19 February. The mixed relay will open the competition, and the event will end with two mass starts.
