” Race of the Stars” in cross-country skiing and biathlon took place on February 4-5 in Luzhniki and was broadcast live on “”. The competitions were held with the support of the Moscow City Sports Department as part of the 100th anniversary of Moscow Sports.
Sunday’s race brought together a constellation of masters of biathlon and cross-country skiing – Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht, Anton Shipulin, Alexander Legkov, Olga Poltoranina, Viktor Maygurov, Olga Podchufarova, Anna Bogaliy, Olga Nazarova, Alexey Petukhov, Ivan Cherezov, Andrey Makoveev, Olga Zaitseva. Each biathlete or professional skier was paired with no less famous amateurs – stars of show business, TV presenters, officials, athletes of other sports.
According to the rules of the star race, each participant had to overcome four circles with four lines of fire from a prone position. If unsuccessful, a penalty loop had to be executed. The race was started by professional biathletes, who after one lap were replaced by amateur biathletes. A festive atmosphere reigned during the competitions, the stands filled to bursting with joyful shouts greeted each athlete on the track, and the presenter Dmitry Guberniev set the mood with brilliant comments and sparkling jokes.
After the first shot at the leaders, Cherezov escaped, not allowing a single miss. Bogaliy and Maygurov followed Ivan. It’s the amateurs’ turn to run. The main plot of the day – how will they show themselves, will someone be able to shoot cleanly? Cherezov’s partner, host Olga Petrikova, was the first to come to the line. And it hit all the targets!

As a result, Petrikova and Cherezov simply didn’t give their opponents a chance to win. The host closed all 20 targets and the three-time world champion only missed once. The second place was taken by the team of Makoveev and another host Sabina Acterina (+3.44.9), the third was the team of Bogaliy and Yuriy Borzakovsky (+3.56.7).

After the finish, Cherezov did not skimp on compliments to his partner.
– Awesome race. Olya surprised me. Of course, I saw her shoot yesterday. But I thought in a quiet environment – that’s one thing, but when you’re filming in motion, it’s completely different. Also, there were very small targets that were not easy to hit. By the way, I drew conclusions from past races that took place a year ago. It helped. Well, Olga today is just a queen! – said the three-time world champion.

– Judging by your performance, could you still participate in the Russian Biathlon Championship?
– In fact, these are feelings long forgotten. I am delighted with the atmosphere in which the race took place today. When I was running, there was no such lighting.
