Winter Sports Day will be celebrated in the regions of Russia for a month, the President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) said on his Telegram channel Stanislav Pozdnyakov .
— Today we celebrate Winter Sports Day, historically timed to coincide with the opening date of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. And traditionally, the Olympic holidays of mass sports and a healthy lifestyle are held in different regions.
From this year, we have decided to change the format of our events by extending the calendar and the program of their holding. From now on, it will take place in the regions of our country for a month, which will allow the Olympic Councils, with the support of the ROC and the local executive authorities, to choose the best days to organize the party, in particular taking into account weather conditions, wrote Pozdnyakov.
— Another innovation is that the Winter Sports Day can now be combined with the Russian Championships in the Winter Olympic disciplines and other competitions. Such a format, I am sure, will have a positive impact on the entertainment of events, attract even more attention from fans and outdoor enthusiasts,” added the ROC official.
