“What an idiot you must be to do something like that in our digital world!” “Theft of the Century” in the ROC Building

On January 31, a presentation of Russian-made skis took place in the building of the Russian Olympic Committee. The event brought together all the beautiful people: the head of the ROC Stanislav Pozdnyakov, the president of the RBU Viktor Maigurov, the two-time Olympic champions Sergei Chepikov and Anna Bogaliy. Also at the meeting was the head of the service team of the Russian biathlon team Alexander Pechersky.

The presentation was successful, but the most interesting remained behind the scenes. That evening, an unknown person stole a bag containing valuables from one of the event guests. Pechersky told how he helped police find the thief. Word to Alexander Alexandrovich:

– The story is extremely unusual, in which, perhaps, you will find yourself once in your life. The presentation of Russian-made skis took place on January 31 in the building of the Russian Olympic Committee, where the leaders of the RRF and ROC were located. Alexander Ryazanov, a very important ski tester, was also invited to the event. He came with the equipment to tell me, as a service representative, the pros and cons of this equipment. He wanted to show it to me the day after the actual presentation.

But on the evening of January 31, this story happened. With him, we left the ROC building. There I had to load the skis into the car. While loading, we put our backpacks on the street right in front of the Russian Olympic Committee building. When we went down to the basement (for the skis) one of the backpacks was missing. They stole that particular specialist’s stuff, my backpack stayed put. I quickly turned to the guards, they did their best to do a quick inspection of the building, but nothing could be found. It’s six o’clock in the evening, we couldn’t see the cameras right away, because the IT people responsible for this had already left work.

Alexander was very upset, because in the backpack there was a computer, all the test devices, an old and saturated flash card, where reports and videos of the last 10 years were collected! These things are simply impossible to restore! It was a very serious blow. The evening, of course, was clouded. The next day we were in Balabanovo, where he got acquainted with the ski factory. In the evening of that day, Alexander flew to Yekaterinburg. I arrived at the ROC building, where I turned to IT people. Of course, they are great, because after spending a decent amount of time, we found the thief on all the video cameras. All of this was in my presence. It has been confirmed that the person’s face was filmed. In addition, all of his movements were recorded. It was interesting to see all of this happen. Already itchy palms! You understand what an idiot it must be to commit such an offense in our digital world. I have no words.

Then I contacted the authorities, wrote a statement on behalf of Alexander Ryazanov about the theft, handed over to the employees of the authorities the contacts of ROC specialists. After some time they contacted me and told me that the scammer had been found. When we also found things that are in the department. I will pick them up on Monday. A story with a happy ending, it seems. I hope all things are found.

This man had nothing to do with the Olympic Committee. I just entered the street. He was clearly spotted when he entered the building. He was not encrypted and did not hide when he entered. I spent 2-3 minutes in the main room and then went to another. And, going out into the street, he saw a backpack, took it and ran to the embankment. Thanks, of course, to the CCTV system and the guys responsible for it,” Pechersky said.
