Pidruchny: I am happy that after everything that I had this season, I managed to perform with dignity

Ukrainian recently recovered from injury

Ukrainian biathlete Dmitry Pidruchny commented on his speech sprint race at the 2023 World Championships in Oberhof.

Pidruchny is one of six biathletes who did not make a single mistake on the shooting range. At the same time, the Ukrainian is satisfied with his performance.

“I think the weather conditions are very difficult and change frequently. I myself understood that it would be hard for everyone to shoot at zero – so I tried to work clearly on the firing lines. I am very happy that after everything that I had this season, I managed to perform well here and fight for high places.”

“Haven’t seen the lap analysis yet, so it’s hard to say what I added [на последнем круге]. I tried to get the most out of myself. Those sections of the track where I feel better – I tried to use them and win back from my rivals.

“After the operation, steep ascents are difficult. The coaches told me that I was losing there. And on more even segments played. He used his physical abilities as he should. And he did what he could.”

Pidruchny finished in fifth position. Representatives of Norway took the podium, and Johannes Be became the world champion.

It should be noted that Dmitry had a successful surgical intervention in Germany in December. The athlete did not take part in the races of the season due to a torn meniscus.

The 2023 World Cup will continue tomorrow, December 12. Oberhof will host the women’s and men’s pursuit races.
