The composition for the individual race will be determined by the condition of the athletes
Coach of the men’s national team of Ukraine Yuraj Sanitra shared his impressions of the pursuit race on World Cup 2023 biathlon in Oberhof.
“Congratulations to Dmitry Pidruchny on today’s result. Again he showed that he was ready for this championship. To get into the top 10 with this competition, which was at the start, you need to know something and have a good physical condition. I think that our fate regarding the medal was decided on the third round, where Dmitry lost contact with this strong group. Everyone understands that he is not a robot, he has only four weeks of training. He lost contact in that lap and held a very good position at the end.”
“For the rest of the guys, on the prone, it’s very good. Standing – there was already fog. But then again: Anton Dudchenko is in the top 20, all the guys are in glasses (in the top 40). I think that we can be satisfied with the performance, especially the eighth place pleases us. Then we will see how to prepare for the next starts.”
“Will Pidruchny perform in the individual race? It all depends on the state in which he wakes up. The position of Nasyko and Tishchenko is such that they must always be ready. Perhaps one or two will get the opportunity to run 20 km, but we will wait for an analysis of the condition of the athletes. This is the World Cup, we need to put the strongest.”
“I think Artem Prima wants more than he needs to, he is highly motivated, but he makes such mistakes. As today – four very well closed, and the last – just a loss of concentration. I am sure that he will come together, I count on him for 20 km. And he is still waiting for a position in the relay. Therefore, we need to deal with this moment.”
Dmitry Pidruchny became the best among Ukrainians in the pursuit race, taking eighth place. Norwegian Johannes Be won another gold.
Monday is the day of rest in the program of the 2023 World Cup. The next start will be the men’s individual race, which will be held on February 14.
