The IBU created the Biathlon Hall of Fame, Bjoerndalen was one of the first to enter it

The press service of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) has announced the creation of the Biathlon Hall of Fame.

The first biathlete to be inducted into the Hall of Fame was a Norwegian Ole Einar Bjoerndalen as well as the Germans Kati Wilhelm , Andrea Henkel And Sven Fischer . They were chosen by the IBU Executive Committee. In total, they have won 17 Olympic gold medals, 40 world titles, 221 World Cup victories and 10 overall victories.

We are proud to announce the first four nominees for the IBU Hall of Fame. All four athletes deserve this recognition for their incredible accomplishments and outstanding contributions to biathlon throughout their careers. They inspired us with their performances and set the benchmark for countless athletes who have followed in their footsteps,” said IBU President Ole Dahlin.

The IBU will select new members of the Hall of Fame each year.
