Executive Director of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Alexander Pak told that the prize fund for the new season has not yet been approved, but it will certainly not be lower than the current season.
The price for the championship and the Cup of Russia for the 2022/23 season is 20.44 million rubles, the championship of Russia and all-Russian competitions (juniors and juniors) – 9.036 million rubles, an additional 30 million rubles will be paid by the RBU to the regional federations for results in four age groups. In addition, the prize money in the amount of 40 million rubles was allocated to the Commonwealth Cup.
— I can’t say anything about the increase in the prize pool for the next season. But it certainly won’t be lower,” Pak told the correspondent.
– Has one of the RBU partners expressed a wish to end the cooperation or extend the agreement?
— All decisions for renewal or new agreements are generally taken in October-November. I can say that we already have proposals. As for the end of relations, there is no such thing. We therefore look to the bright future with great confidence.
In February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended preventing Russians from participating in international competitions. In January 2023, the IOC announced that it would consider the possibility of admitting Russian and Belarusian athletes to world starts in a neutral status, who did not actively support the SVO.
The final phase of the Russian Cup will be held in Chaikovsky (Perm Territory) from February 16 to 19. The races will be broadcast live on the channel, as well as on the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites. The first start on Thursday will be the women’s sprint, the broadcast will begin at 8:40 a.m. (Moscow time).
