President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Viktor Maygurov told that Russian athletes should perform at international competitions with the country’s flag and anthem, there is no legal reason to prevent it.
In February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended preventing Russians from participating in international competitions. In January 2023, the IOC announced that it would consider the possibility of admitting Russian and Belarusian athletes to world starts in a neutral status, who did not actively support the SVO.
– I think we will have a common ROC position for all sports, because you have to understand: why are we in a neutral status, where is it written? If we haven’t violated anything, let’s act on an equal footing with everyone else,” Maygurov told a correspondent.
Should there be both a flag and an anthem?
– Yes. I see no legal reason why we should be allowed to remain neutral.
The races of the final phase of the PARI Russian Cup will be broadcast live on the channel, as well as on the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites. On Friday, February 17, the men’s sprint will take place, the broadcast will start at 8:40 a.m. (Moscow time).
