“I had a stomach ache, I couldn’t sleep.” Biathlete Porshnev about stomach problems in the final of the Russian Cup

Biathlon World Championship bronze medalist Nikita Porshnev told that before the start of the Russian Cup finals in Chaikovsky, Perm Territory, he started having stomach problems, which had seriously affected his results and his mood.

Porshnev took 32nd place in the sprint on Friday. On Saturday in the pursuit race, the 26-year-old net-shooting biathlete showed the 13th result, losing 2 minutes 38.9 seconds to the winner Eduard Latypov.

– In general, I am satisfied with the race, I was listening to the worst shots, but it started from scratch. It turned out to be a rather weak movement – for the past two days I have had stomach problems. I prepared well for the Russian Cup, but that’s how it went. I had a stomach ache, I couldn’t sleep. Yesterday before the sprint there was heaviness, today it remained too. So the result after such an incident is awaited. Nothing, life is like that,” Porshnev told a correspondent.

– Where did you catch the infection?

We think, we reason, but we cannot understand. We seem to be eating the same food, just some kind of indigestion or aggravation.

Did you miss a black cat on the road?

– Maybe. No luck for me.

– Was there a desire not to go to the start and to recover before the Russian Championship?

– Research. But you have to run races, fight for points. I wanted to beat in the Cup. And I am solely responsible for what happened.

– Will we see you in Izhevsk at the Russian Championship?

– Yes.
