Former President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Vladimir Drachev in a conversation with , he praised the biathlete Karima Khalili noting that he is always working for himself and striving to learn something new.
On Sunday, Khalili took third place in the mass start at the final stage of the Russian Cup in Chaikovsky (Perm Territory) and won the general classification of the tournament for the 2022/23 season. In women, the first final place was taken by Anastasia Goreeva.
– It is difficult to assess the achievements of Khalili and Goreeva when they ran alone – without competition in international competitions, – Drachev told .
– But can we note the progress of Khalili?
– It’s hard to tell if it’s Khalili’s progress or the others’ decline. Yes, when I was at the head of the RRF, Khalili was a very efficient athlete, it was clear that the person aspires to victories, has a great desire to show results, to reach the highest level. Total dedication, constant desire to learn new things. Khalili has always followed the principle that “perfection has no limits”. God grant that he continues to grow in his skills.
– You talked about the decline of the remnant. To whom, for example?
– It seems to me that many have lost their desire to work due to the fact that there are no world cups and championships, there are no trips, there are fewer and fewer performance prospects in international competitions. Many have lost motivation, but still, well done. And the same Goreeva is a wonderful athlete. She has a movement, a huge drive, so let her fight at that level for now, and then hopefully after a while our athletes can compete in the world cups and championships.
