“The work on the transition to Asia has been done, the letters have been sent. It’s a good alternative” – head coach of the Russian national luge team

Head coach of the Russian luge team, Sergei Chudinov, believes that the transition to Asia can be a great alternative to international departures.

On Monday, a press conference was held devoted to the big starts of the 2022/23 season in luge. In addition to Chudinov, head coach of the Russian national team on natural ban Andrey Knyr, three-time luge world champion Roman Repilov, 12-time World Cup winner on natural ban Ekaterina Lavrentyeva and Olympic silver medalist and bronze Tatyana Ivanova, luger, participated.

– The work concerning the transition to Asia has been done, the letters have been sent. In the future, we will succeed, there are very good tracks and very good athletes. The opportunity to prove themselves in high-level competitions is a plus for any athlete.

It makes sense to direct efforts to Asia, this is a good, interesting alternative, – the correspondent reports Chudinov’s words.

At the end of January, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that it would consider the possibility of admitting to international departures Russian and Belarusian athletes in a neutral status, who have not actively supported the CBO. IOC chief Thomas Bach admitted that the Russians could participate in the Summer Olympics in Paris in a neutral status.
