“I started the season with tears in my eyes.” Shevchenko said he survived emergency surgery

Winner of the European Biathlon Championship Anastasia Shevchenko spoke about the difficulties she overcame in preparation for the season.

The 23-year-old double world junior champion, Shevchenko, was announced for the sprint as part of the final of the PARI Cup of Russia, which took place in Tchaikovsky (Perm region) on Thursday, but did not took off.

– I started the preparatory season late, and when I started training, I had incidents. During pre-season, I underwent emergency eye surgery. Then, when I started training on the roller coaster, my leg hurt again. I already started the season with tears in my eyes, I didn’t know what was going to happen and how. And when I took second place in the individual race in Ufa in winter, I had tears of joy, I was happy. If the doctor hadn’t lifted my leg, I wouldn’t have succeeded,” Shevchenko said on .

The first stage of the PARI Russian Championship will take place in Izhevsk from February 23 to 26. Thursday at 9.30 am will take place the women’s individual race, the live broadcast on will start at 9.10 am. The men’s race starts at 1:30 p.m. Moscow time, the live broadcast on will begin at 1:25 p.m.
