Belarus national team in biathlon this season has fewer opportunities to prepare skis than before, the Russians have better equipment at a distance, the Belarusian Olympic medalist told Anton Smolsky .
Smolsky finished third in the individual race at the PARI Russian Championship in Izhevsk on Thursday with two range penalties.
– I would rate the race as satisfactory. Good work turned out both in the turn and on the track. I note that the glide was a bit tight: some skis were going very well, others not so much. Hence the big differences. If there is at least a minimal difference in skiing on long descents, a lag forms immediately,” Smolsky said.
“Did your skis work well?”
– Not perfect, but okay.
— They say that during the season the skis of Belarusians work better than the skis of Russians.
“It’s kind of a myth. This year, the funding is not the same as last year. The Russians have more opportunities for lubricants, for powders.
The first stage of the PARI Russian Championship takes place in Izhevsk from February 23 to 26. The competitions can be followed live on and on the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites.
