Speed Skating World Cup Medalist Viktor Mushtakov told he sees the coming season as more restorative, adding that many athletes without international starts lack motivation.
Mushtakov at the last start of the season – the Russian Cup final in Kolomna – won the 500 meters and the Cup standings at this distance.
– In fact, I rather wanted to finish this season. There were few competitions.
– But you still traveled a lot across the country.
– Regarding last season, there are still few departures, there were so many World Cup stages there.
– Angelina Golikova said it was a season of freedom, how did it go for you?
– Restorative and passing, training. There was nothing like us biting, it just started between us.
– Not everyone reached the last start of the season. Are you proud of yourself in this regard?
– It’s really hard, some people just don’t have enough motivation.
– And you?
“I’m used to racing all the starts in Russia since my childhood, it’s easier for me in that regard,” Mushtakov told .
In the context of the situation in Ukraine, Russian athletes have been suspended from participating in international competitions under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU).
