“I set myself the goal of completing 20 Yugra Ski Marathons” – Olympic Champion Dementiev

Olympic cross-country skiing champion Yevgeny Dementiev told what his participation in the Yugra Ski Marathon meant to him.

The competitions will take place on April 7 and 8 in Khanty-Mansiysk. In addition to Dementyev, well-known athletes such as biathletes Eduard Latypov, Karim Khalili and Daniil Serokhvostov, as well as skiers Yulia Stupak, Sergey Ustyugov and Alexander Legkov will participate in the marathon.

– My task is not so much to fight for high places, but simply to participate in the marathon. We have our tenth anniversary marathon this year, and I didn’t miss a single one. I set myself the goal of over 20 years old, this will stimulate me from season to season to pay attention to my physical activity.

Do you also participate in the organization?

Yes, I am friends with the departmental ski federation. We take over the organization.

How many participants are expected?

– Hard to say. A week ago, I heard that over a thousand had signed up. Both in Khanty-Mansiysk and in the district, activities are carried out to attract people to the marathon. Especially that year, he was very successful. We were lucky with the weather: the weather was fine, the track was hard, everyone left happy. I wish it wasn’t worse this year.

What are the registration fees used for?

– Mainly for training a starter package. There will also be memories. I can’t say for sure, because it’s not my field of activity, but in any case, everything is in favor of the marathon,” Dementyev told .

The Yugra Ski Marathon has been held since 2013.
