The head of the International Skating Union (ISU) Speed Skating Technical Committee, Alexander Kibalko, believes that the ISU board made a balanced decision without raising the issue of not allowing Russian delegates to the organization congress.
On Sunday, it became known that the ISU Council had not submitted to Congress a proposal to exclude Russian representatives from the participants of the event, which will begin on June 6 in Phuket (Thailand).
— Thank you advice for a balanced logical decision. Now before the congress the atmosphere is at work, the meetings at the highest level are held in a good atmosphere. The ISU Congress is a key event that determines the future of our sports in the years to come, Kibalko told .
Kibalko is a candidate for the board of directors of the ISU. The Russian leads the organisation’s speed skating technical committee and claims a place there following the elections.
From the Russian Skating Union, the ISU Congress is attended by Secretary General Ksenia Shantseva, Mikhail Sokolov, short track technical committee member candidate Andrey Nefedov. The new president of the Russian Skating Union, Nikolai Gulyaev, could not be nominated for the congress, because the elections were held on June 3 and the deadline for candidacies was earlier.
