To fight the “steroid Norwegians”, Latypov must shoot zero on four borders – Vasiliev

Double Olympic champion in biathlon Dmitry Vasiliev in a conversation with , he noted excellent form Edward Latypov but recognized that the athlete must work on the accuracy of the shot.

On Saturday, Latypov took first place in the pursuit race at the final round of the Pari Commonwealth Cup in Tyumen with three penalties. The second and third places were taken by Daniil Serokhvostov and Alexander Povarnitsyn respectively.

– Latypov is now in very good shape, and it’s a shame that he can’t compete with the Norwegians on steroids. But that’s fine – but now he’s the obvious leader and wins almost every race by a margin. It’s another matter that other athletes fail, who generally shouldn’t fail: Khalili, Tomshin… For them, it’s an abnormal result, especially in shooting. The national championship is coming soon – let’s see how they prepare for the main start. But such differences, of course, are not very encouraging.

– Maybe they just take care of themselves before the Russian championship?

– I don’t know… Of course, there’s such a thing in the subconscious that if something doesn’t work, then they don’t resist much, because there’s still a race ahead. It worries me that no one is shooting zero. This, of course, is sad. And three penalties for Latypov… Yes, he is strong with his feet, but to be at world level and fight with the steroid Norwegians, you have to shoot zero on four lines. I think he himself understands that this component needs to be worked on very seriously,” Vasiliev told .
