russian biathlete Alexander Povarnitsyn admitted that for a long time he could not connect to the pursuit race as part of the final phase of the Pari Commonwealth Cup.
On Saturday, Povarnitsyn took third place in the race, first and second Edward Latypov And Daniil Serokhvostov respectively.
– Today, I am satisfied with the race. But he was unhappy with his mood before the start, he couldn’t prepare for a long time. Everything was distracting and I was mad at myself for not being able to concentrate. I tried to do everything to make it happen, and in the process of racing it seemed like stuck in work. Distracted by my everyday moments, why linger? I’m just such a person – it’s pretty easy to throw me off balance. But I wouldn’t call myself superstitious.
I think it was a good shoot. I tried to work more relaxed while lying down, it worked. I was lucky that when I shot there were no gusts of wind.
– What was your tactic for the last lap?
– I felt that Petya (Pashchenko) was walking slowly and I didn’t know what to expect from him. I figured that since I wasn’t running away, that meant he was very well prepared and had to leave everything until the last climb.
– Can we say that we entered the tournament in the best shape?
– After the illness, I’m a little cooler than the rest of the guys. The sprint was easier for me than the pursuit today – and that’s just a consequence of the disease, a slow recovery. But there is still a long time before the Russian championship – I hope to be able to approach it in top form, – the correspondent reports Povarnitsyn’s words.
