Biathlete Romain Eremin who won mass start silver in the PARI Commonwealth Cup, said it was psychologically difficult for him to force himself to race due to the tight competitive schedule at the end of the season.
On Sunday, Eremin took second place in the mass start at the final Commonwealth Cup stage in Tyumen.
— This race was the compensation for yesterday’s failure. The last time, I still did everything that was asked of me. In general, at the end of the season, the body is not only physically tired, but it is psychologically difficult to force yourself out every time this three-day week, let’s call it that. It’s a bit tiring.
– Fight against Latypov you have to shoot “to zero”, turns out?
– For me, yes. I don’t know how Edik raced on the last lap, maybe he just played, since I managed to get a bit closer to him at the end. So I’m happy, which means I’m in good shape.
– This season you have successful results mainly in the mass start. Can you say this is your discipline?
“A lot of people tell me that. But I don’t want to specialize in one discipline. I want medals in different races. But once you get the mass start, it’s good.
What did you think of the last lap? Were there any thoughts to catch up with Latypov?
– There was no such thought. I just wanted to give myself the maximum benefit, and then come what may. Edik is a pretty strong skier and he had a big advantage.
– There was a blockage in front of the first line. Was there a risk of entering it?
– When I came out of the descent, I saw a blockage, I was surprised, but I reacted, I went around. I did not expect to see Danya Serokhvostov there. He rode at the front of the peloton, and blockages usually occur in the middle, – the correspondent reports Eremin’s words.
