Coach of the Russian team Artem Istomine shared his expectations for the performance of biathletes at the Russian cross-country championship in Tyumen.
Ekaterina Noskova and Elizaveta Kaplina will perform at the competition.
– There’s just a lot of noise around this start, and of course we wouldn’t want it (smiles), because we planned to hold it for ourselves – just as a control training, but with the participation of skiers high level. Still, some of us haven’t run smooth ski races at all, or run them for a really long time and can’t remember what it’s all about. I myself am interested in how they are going to break down tactically in this race, and it will also be interesting for them to see who is working on the distance, how it is going. After all, there are many nuances we talk about, using skiers as an example, but they don’t see it. And, of course, it would be useful for them to watch it all live, to feel it for themselves. We are more involved in that end. Of course, I want to develop them as skiers so that they are stronger, but for that you have to be close to the skiers.
We will not prepare to take any place, because we have our Russian Championship ahead of us. And it makes no sense to expect a special result from them. It is more important to me that they gain experience, – quotes the words of Istomin “Championship”.
The tournament will take place in Tyumen from March 18 to 26.
