The International Skating Union (ISU) made the right decision by allowing Russian representatives to participate in the organisation’s congress, if they were expelled the federation could face negative consequences, the president of the association said. The ISU Congress is taking place in Phuket (Thailand) from June 6 to 10. On Monday, delegates did not support the Ukrainian side’s proposal to exclude Russians and Belarusians from participating in the congress and elections.

– The ISU has taken the correct and correct decision in allowing the representatives of Russia to participate in the congress. Russia is the driving force behind the development of figure skating in the world. Moreover, in case of removal of our representatives, this could have negative consequences for the ISU. In particular, it could have ended in court and in no case with the victory of the federation,” the committee’s press service quoted Svishchev as saying.
