Before the start of the Cross-Country World Cup in Swedish Falun, a wolf was shot, reports dagger .
During the week, the organizers of the competition and several skiers saw a wolf near the track. A wildlife department representative said there was no reason to cull the animal, as it ran into the forest, scared of people. However, later it was decided to conduct a wolf hunt.
According to Falu-Kuriren, the wolf was killed while waiting for a large number of spectators along the track during the World Cup races.
Swedish skier Kalle Halfvarsson has expressed regret over the killing of the animal.
“I don’t know why they shot him. For my part, I would like him to be able to continue living. I’m more afraid of competition than wolves,” Halfvarsson said.
Individual races will be held in Falun on Friday. Watch the live broadcast of the women’s “cup” starting at 1:55 p.m. Moscow time on the TV channel “Match! Arena”, as well as on the sites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
