The women’s pursuit race as part of the final phase of the Biathlon World Cup in Holmenkollen, Norway, has been canceled, reports the press service of the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
Earlier, the IBU announced the postponement of the women’s sprint from Friday to Saturday due to heavy snowfall and fog. In this regard, the organizers have decided to cancel the women’s pursuit, scheduled for March 18.
— The visibility was so poor that the athletes could not see the targets. This is a clear reason not to race today. So, on Saturday the women will have a sprint, on Sunday – a mass start. The men’s competition schedule remains unchanged,” said IBU Race Director Borut Nunar.
The men will start the pursuit race on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. Moscow time, the women will run the sprint at 5:00 p.m.
Russian biathletes miss the current World Cup by decision of the IBU.
