Sanitra: We finish the World Cup satisfied with our work

The men’s team coach is pleased that he managed to maintain his position in the Nations Cup

Male trainer national team of Ukraine biathlon Yuraj Sanitra summed up the performance of the team at the last stage World Cup in Norwegian Holmenkollen.

“I will say that the athletes also expected better results at the last stage of the World Cup in Holmenkollen, Norway. But this needs to be looked at more broadly. The guys gave themselves completely at the stages in Nove Mesto and Östersund, where they showed very good results. They have taken an important step towards securing their place in the Nations Cup in front of strong teams Finland and Slovenia.”

“Not all athletes in Holmenkollen were 100% in good condition both mentally and physically. Some had health problems.”

“I will say that the last stage was not good for us, but we still finish the World Cup and leave Norway happy, satisfied with the work we have done this season.”

“I have already said that the men’s team has a very good base. Now I see 12-13 athletes who have a very good level. Now it will be necessary to correctly determine the system of work, find finances so that the athletes have adequate support, correctly determine the coaching staff not only for the A team, but also for the B team, because the base and career of young athletes begin there. This season I again want to involve young juniors with talent in the training process. This is all so that the Ukrainian men’s team never has a problem when the main athletes finish their careers.”

At the final stage of the World Cup in Holmenkollen, the best result of Ukrainian biathletes in men’s competitions was Artem Pryma and Anton Dudchenko getting into the top 40 in the pursuit race. The Ukrainians failed to qualify for the mass start, which took place on Sunday.
