russian biathlete Elizabeth Kaplina after competing in a 10km time trial at the Russian Ski Championships in Tyumen, she said she entered the tournament with a back injury.
The gold medal in Tuesday’s skating “cup” was won by skier Ekaterina Smirnova, who showed a result of 26 minutes 9.9 seconds. Biathletes Ekaterina Noskova (+1 minute 35.6 seconds) and Kaplina (+2.13.7) respectively took 21st and 33rd place.
– In principle, I am satisfied. Not by my result, but by the fact that I ran at all. Satisfied with how I covered the distance. But I didn’t have the highest speed. It was very difficult to spread out the distance, to understand how to descend. Our circles are small and we mostly focus on shooting, from which we push back. It’s very good that I had enough for the last part of the distance.
– But you ran after a recent illness…
– I got sick at Tchaikovsky very seriously. I am still struggling with the consequences of my illness. I have back problems here. Yesterday at training I had pain in my lower back. Therefore, today I watched not only how to pass the track, but also behind my back. It’s good that you got there. This is where the Russian ski championship ends for me. Then I will run my championship in Khanty-Mansiysk.
I don’t regret starting here. This should not affect the performance of our Russian Championship. Here I had a very useful experience, I really liked it.
– Russian cross-country team head coach Yuri Borodavko said he didn’t expect much competition from the biathletes. Wasn’t that embarrassing?
“I didn’t know he said that. I don’t mind, some of the strongest skiers in the world perform here, they show great results. And the skiers were preparing especially for these departures. And we deliberately did not prepare for these races. Our main goal is our own championship of Russia, ”reports the correspondent of in the words of Kaplina.
