Biathlete Ekaterina Noskova said she was happy with silver in the team sprint at the Alfa-Bank Russian Ski Championship in Tyumen.
Together with Alena Perevozchikova, the athlete played for the KhMAO‑Yugra‑1 team.
The first place went to the team from the Tyumen-1 region (Ekaterina Smirnova, Elizaveta Pantrina), the third place went to the team from the Republic of Komi-1 (Yulia Stupak, Olga Tsareva).
– The emotions are the most positive, we weren’t favourites, nobody bet on us, and I think they didn’t consider that we could compete for something. When we went through qualifying, many people came to tell Alena and I that we would definitely fight for medals. Of course, the favorites were representatives of the Tyumen region, and they proved it. But we took the money – it’s a great result, I can’t even fully describe how I feel now. This result was unexpected for everyone, and that makes it even sweeter.
– One of the highlights of this season?
— Clearly, cross-country skiing is a specific sport for us. Yesterday I finished the Master of Sports in cross-country skiing – today Alena and I won a medal at the Russian Championship. The contest went well (laughs).
– Is the team sprint the closest to the biathlon?
Not exactly, but close to me. I have quite different explosive qualities for a team sprint, and I have long thought and wanted to run a sprint in a classic style. It seems that the next cross-country championship will be skating, and I think we should try to participate in it.
Are you ready to continue skiing?
– Well, I would like to try my luck if possible.
– Before the prologue, did you think you could compete for a medal?
– Probably, I understood that it is quite possible to fight for all six. I didn’t think about the medals, but after the prologue, yes, I understood that it was possible to win the medal if the skis didn’t miss.
– How was it distributed, who will lead the first and who will lead the second stage?
— Coaches. Sergey Turyshev called Istomin and asked me how I was in terms of sprint qualities in general. Well, Artem Evgenievich knows that I feel pretty good in races where explosive speed is needed. Maybe that’s why he said I could go to the second stage.
How to evaluate a circle?
– He is complicated. At 5:00 p.m. there are three tough climbs and there is nowhere to rest. Descents, climbs, turns – and you are constantly in suspense. There are literally ten seconds left to rest on the final descent, but there is already a transfer in progress. You can’t relax anywhere, one wrong move and you will lose several positions, ”reports correspondent Noskovy.
