RRF chief calls IOC requirements for admission of Russian athletes unacceptable

The requirements of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the admission of Russian athletes to international competitions are unacceptable. This was stated by the head of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Viktor Maygurov .

The IOC on Tuesday recommended that international sports federations allow Russian athletes who do not support the CBO to compete in neutral individual status. These guidelines do not apply to team sports.

— The IOC demands are unacceptable for many reasons. We are ready to be punished if we violate something, but now we are not. The IBU has an executive committee meeting today where this topic will be discussed. Considering that the IBU is one of the most conservative federations, we do not build up special illusions, – the correspondent reports Maygurov’s words.

In February last year, the IOC Executive Board recommended federations not to invite Russians and Belarusians to compete due to the situation in Ukraine. In many sports, athletes from both countries were suspended from starts, some federations allowed them to be neutral without national symbols.
