The IOC interrupted the speech of the Estonian biathlete who opposed Russia’s participation in the Olympics

Representatives of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) interrupted the performance of the Estonian biathlete Johanna Talikharm who condemned the probable participation of Russian athletes in the Olympic Games.

The episode occurred during a videoconference of the organization with the athletes. Talikharm accused the IOC of allegedly trying to “push” Russians and Belarusians into the Olympics, after which the committee representative cut her off and asked to pass the floor to the next speaker.

Talihärm, 29, competes for the Estonian national team in the Biathlon World Cup but has never won a medal in a major competition. His best result was a tenth place finish in the sprint at the World Championships in Oberhof, Germany in 2023.

On Tuesday, the IOC’s executive committee issued recommendations to international federations to allow Russians who did not support the CBO to compete as neutral athletes.
