biathletes Yevgeny Garanichev , Matvey Eliseev and Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht were not on the list of national team candidates for the 2022/23 season. The corresponding document is published on the website of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
The list of candidates for the women’s and men’s teams included 16 athletes each, including Anton Babikov, Eduard Latypov, Alexander Loginov, Daniil Serokhvostov, Karim Khalili, Maxim Tsvetkov, Evgenia Burtasova, Valeria Vasnetsova, Irina Kazakevich, Larisa Kuklina, Svetlana Mironova, Kristina Reztsova.
Yurlova-Perht ended her career in 2020 due to pregnancy. The 2022 Russian Championship in Tyumen was the biathlete’s first start in the past two years.
Last season, Garanichev took part in the first stage of the World Cup in Östersund, where he took 113th place in the sprint. After that, the athlete was sent to the IBU Cup.
Eliseev suspended his competitive activities in December last year as he decided to take charge of his health.
