Biathlon World Champion Anton Babikov told he did not want to respond to requests International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the admission of Russians and Belarusians, because there are more global issues in the world worth discussing.
On March 28, the IOC announced recommendations on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions in a neutral status. Recommendations include individual authorization, status neutrality, banning participation in team sports, banning participation of athletes associated with law enforcement. A decision on the Paris 2024 Olympics will be taken “at the appropriate time”, the IOC has said.
“I don’t think it’s necessary to answer that. This is only a collection of unspecified and constructive opinions. I want there to be no reason to collect these opinions, to try to blame someone or something else. I want everyone in the world to understand that there are more global issues and discuss them,” Babikov told .
On April 5, Uvat will host a men’s marathon as part of the Russian Biathlon Championship. will broadcast the race live, starting at 8:40 a.m. Moscow time.
