Biathlete Nikita Porchnev of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug said on that the PARI Russian Championship 40 km marathon in Uvat was easier for him than some races in the current season.
The 27-year-old covered the distance in 1 hour 56 minutes 14.5 seconds and had three misses. He won the mass start.
– At first I decided to tense up, but I realized the track was tough, I thought, I’ll just sit still, I was kind of scared. I didn’t start sooner, and rightly so, because in the end my arms and legs started cramping, the moves didn’t work, I just walked, tried to activate the muscles as little as possible. The state of health allowed it, there were forces, but the muscles did not allow pushing. Although such a distance was still easier for me than some races.
There are no questions about the skis, everything is fine. We had a team working here, not just the department, but the whole team. Warm weather makes it easier to breathe, it was very pleasant,” Porshnev told .
On Thursday, April 6, a women’s 30 km marathon will take place, broadcast live on will start at 8:40 a.m. (Moscow time).
