The Russian Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Federation noted the quality of work under sanctions

Vladimir Slavsky, vice-president of the Russian Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Federation, thanked the Ministry of Sports and the ROC for their support, and also noted that the athletes can continue their quality training despite the sanctions.

– When athletes succeed, it is above all the merit of the athletes themselves and the coaching staff, but at the same time there are many organizations without which these successes would be unthinkable. The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation has always funded the training of teams throughout the Olympic cycle. The Russian Olympic Committee has always met us halfway. We are very proud to have three supercenters, and despite the sanctions, we can fully prepare for competitions in our country,” said Slavsky, quoted by the ROC press service.

Dmitry Dubrovsky, president of the Russian Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Federation, also highlighted the organization’s work.

— It is especially pleasant to realize that after a 54-year break, our silver medalist federation (at the 2022 Games in Beijing) has contributed to the treasure of the Russian team. I thank all coaches and athletes, as well as the Ministry of Sports and the ROC for the measures taken to develop Russian sport, which have been taken since the preparation for the games in Sochi. We will continue to hold the banner of Russian sport high, no matter what difficult conditions we have to work in, Dubrovsky added.

In October, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) announced that athletes from Russia and Belarus were not allowed to compete under the organisation’s auspices in the 2022/23 season.

On March 28, the IOC announced recommendations on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Recommendations include individual clearance, status neutrality, banning team sports, and banning athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the CWO. A decision on the Paris 2024 Olympics will be taken “at the appropriate time”, said the IOC.
