Winner of the Short Track World Championships Sofia Prosvirnova on the air of the program “There is a theme!” on she said that after the decision to change her sporting citizenship she was afraid of being asked uncomfortable questions in Denmark.
Earlier, the 25-year-old announced his intention to change his sporting citizenship and play for the Danish national team in the future. After the Beijing Olympics, Prosvirnova married Danish speed skater Viktor Torup.
– Aren’t you afraid that in Denmark you will be asked questions about the SVO, about your relationship to power?
– When I started training in the Russian national team, from the age of 13-14, we were given the goal – the Olympics, medals from the Games. Now I realize that there are other important moments in life, building my family as well as my career.
I fear they will ask uncomfortable questions. I know why I made the decision. My decision is not related to politics. I will try to avoid such questions,” Prosvirnova said on .
Prosvirnova is a five-time European champion, two-time silver medalist and two-time bronze medalist of the World Championships, winner of the 2019 Universiade.
Earlier, Prosvirnova told that his transition had been approved by the Danish Federation and the Russian Skating Union.
