“During the marathon I thought I could stop, because it was very difficult” – biathlete Kazakevich

Olympic medalist in biathlon Irina Kazakevich told that during the 30 km marathon as part of the PARI Russian Championship, she had the idea to finish the race earlier than expected, but she could not afford it, because she came to the competition for the enjoyment of the fans.

Kazakevich took third place in the women’s marathon on Thursday, Victoria Slivko won.

— There were no such deep thoughts during the race. Probably for the first time I thought I could quit, it was so hard (laughs). Even when I ran the 60 km Avachinsky Marathon, it was not that difficult. Maybe it’s due to the rather difficult terrain here, the guys kind of had more fun, because the weather was warm and sunny (laughs). Well, the rifle behind my back was felt, especially on the long climbs, my back was numb.

The idea of leaving the race, in my opinion, should not arise, because I came here primarily for the sake of the fans. Whatever the race, no matter how hard it is for you, in any case, you have to reach (to the finish line), Kazakevich told .

All the races of the stages of the Cup and the championship of Russia, the Commonwealth Cup of the last biathlon season were broadcast on the television channels of the match outfit.
