curler Alexander Krushelnitsky told that his wife Anastasia Bryzgalova did not want to resume her career as an athlete, as she was tired of the competitive diet.
Bryzgalova and Krushelnitsky will perform at the Nornickel Curling Cup in Dudinka, which will be held April 23-26. They will play double-mix for the first time in official competition after Krushelnytsky was suspended for four years due to meldonium. The suspension expired in February 2022.
– With what feelings do you return to the competitions with Anastasia?
“It’s not clear yet. For a long time, I insisted that my wife and I play together. But she resisted. Now we will try it in test mode, after all, she did not train for three years, she ended her career as an athlete. I also came back a year after a four-year hiatus. Curling as a whole changed during this time. Let’s try playing and see what happens.
– Why was Anastasia against coming back and playing with you?
– She ended her career and got tired of the sports diet. It’s easier for her now in her coaching career.
– So Dudinka’s tournament will be a unique event for her? Does she have any plans to make a full comeback?
“We’ll find out soon,” Krushelnytsky told .
At the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, Krushelnitsky, along with his wife Bryzgalova, won bronze medals in mixed doubles, but meldonium was found in his doping test. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) found Krushelnytsky guilty of an anti-doping rule violation and overturned their results from the 2018 Games. The Russian pair lost their Olympic medals.
