The Olympic champion criticized the IOC’s decision to allow athletes from aggressor countries.

Russians and Belarusians should not be allowed to participate in international competitions, and even more so in the Olympic Games. This is what 2018 Olympic freestyle champion Alexander Abramenko said.

At the same time, the athlete with the title spoke out against the boycott of competitions in which athletes from aggressor countries participated. According to Abramenko, Ukraine must continue to fight for the withdrawal of Russians and Belarusians.

“The actions of the International Olympic Committee insult and shock our Ukrainian Olympic community, it is unacceptable. It shocks not only us, but also other countries that support Ukraine.

Everyone understands what’s going on. How do our Ukrainian athletes perform with the occupying athletes? We see that the IOC cannot make an entry decision on its own, therefore it transfers the responsibility to the international federations and recommends allowing the Russians and Belarusians to compete.

As an athlete, I can say that it is not normal to boycott the competitions, the Olympic Games. At the same time, I don’t understand how you can compete with them. We must do our best to convey our position to other federations and countries. They should help us and prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from competing,” Abramenko said in a comment to Ukrinform.

It was previously known that the Ukrainian national team will not participate in competitions where Russians will be allowed.
