The Expert Council of the Ministry of Sports of Russia recommended to approve Dmitry Dorofeev as head coach of the national team Russia in speed skating, the press service of the Russian Skating Union told .
Nikolai Gulyaev, president of the Russian Skating Union, clarified that Dorofeev would lead both the Russian speed skating team and the short track team in his position.
“We don’t have a division, there is only one sport, so we don’t have the option of having two head coaches in the regions,” Gulyaev told .
The meeting of the expert council following the results of the finished season was held on April 12.
Dorofeev is 46 years old, at the 2006 Olympics in Turin, the Russian won a silver medal in the 500 meters. Previously, his candidacy was recommended for the post of head coach by the executive committee of the Russian Skating Union.
