The Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) will hold a conference with representatives of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) in May to discuss some criteria for admitting Russian athletes to international competitions, the RBU chief said. Viktor Maygurov .
– Do you have any contact with the IBU for admission?
Each federation depends on the territoriality of its members. If there are more Asian representatives in martial arts, then we have more European representatives. The European position is clear today. The IBU immediately after the IOC’s publication issued its own statement, which sees no reason to reverse its decisions. On the other hand, the example of the other federations cannot go unnoticed. The diplomacy that currently exists is developing new criteria. Yes, they are still unacceptable to us, but the movement in this direction has already begun.
We will initiate the holding of a conference by videoconference in May in order to propose taking certain criteria into account. Yes, the IOC has made recommendations, but it’s not dogma. Therefore, this communication will be initiated from our side, – the correspondent reports Maygurov’s words.
In March, the IOC Executive Committee recommended that international federations, if Russians are allowed to start, do so individually, in a neutral status, without participating in team events, and also exclude the participation of athletes associated with the forces of order.
