Head coach of the Russian national biathlon team Yuri Kaminsky told Metaratings.ru that no athlete in his group wants to change his nationality.
– Are there fears that the leaders of the Russian national team will change their nationality after not being admitted to the Olympics?
– I think Americans like to say, “May the old woman be wrong, but she’s my country.” We should think the same way: no matter what, no matter who criticizes, it’s our country. Some people will, but many won’t think about changing their citizenship.
– Do you have any in your group?
We definitely don’t! said Kaminski.
In early March 2022, the International Biathlon Union announced the suspension of Russian athletes from competitions under its auspices until the end of the 2021/22 season. The suspension was later extended until the following season.
