President of the Russian Skating Union (RCS) Nikolai Gulyaev underlined the importance of the election of Alexander Kibalko, a member of the Executive Committee of the RC, to the new Board of Directors of the International Skating Union skating (ISU).
Kibalko was the main technical committee of the ISU. On June 10, he was elected to a position on the organization’s board of directors.
— The election of Oleksandr Kibalko is a very important decision for us. The ISU Council is the highest decision-making body between congresses, and we have a Russian representative there. I would like to note that in the current situation, we have been admitted to the ISU congress, and the rule that could potentially become grounds for removing federations has not been passed, Gulyaev told .
At the ISU congress on Friday, Kim Jae-il (South Korea) was elected as the organization’s new president.
“I have already congratulated the new ISU President on his election, I hope we can establish business and effective relations,” Gulyaev said.
Due to the situation in Ukraine, Russian athletes have been suspended from participating in competitions under the auspices of the ISU until further notice.
“We hope that soon our athletes will return to performance on the international stage, because without Russians it is difficult to imagine speed skating, figure skating and short track,” added the president of the Russian Union of skating.
